No matter which time of year you visit the secret to discovering Kakadu is taking your time. With time come stories, secrets and sights never imagined. You can visit the magnificent artworks of the rock shelters at Ubirr and Nourlangie, or tour the expansive wetlands which are home to a diverse range of birdlife and aquatic animals and crocodiles. In the dry season there are many walks in the park, satisfying all fitness levels.

It is impossible to appreciate the full breadth and beauty of the park in a fleeting visit – plan to stay at least three to five days. If you can afford the time, spend a week or more.
